York Region Parent (formerly York Region Baby) is a private website/company owned and run by Kirsty Kernohan,  editor and publisher. 

We wanted to let you know about some things like the content on the site and some rules.

Your Comments

As we have switched over to a blog in the past few months, we encourage comments by our users, but sometimes comments and thoughts can be hurtful or out of control so we ask that you keep your comments relevant to the post and refrain from making hurtful comments about anyone- including other readers.  You are free to agree or disagree with each other, but please do so respectfully. 

We do not intend to censor messages based on the opinions expressed within posts, but we reserve the right to remove, modify or move comment at our discretion and without explanation. Comments are moderated, and will not appear until the site staff has approved them.

The following types of comments that might not be posted

  • comments with profanity and slanderous remarks will not be posted
  • please stay on subject. Blatantly off-subject comments will not be posted
  • inflammatory remarks (intentional or otherwise), anything that we believe may provoke a fight.
  • advertising and spam.

You can agree or disagree with each other as long as you do it with respect, posts lacking this will not be posted. 

A good rule of thumb…   ”Post like you are speaking to the other person!!  

Editorial Information

York Region Parent is a business that runs on the support of our advertisers, most who have been with us from the start in 2006.  

You will always know when what you are looking at is an advertisement, as it will say, “Sponsored By:”, “Advertisement”, “Sponsored Email” or “Sponsor Spotlight”.  

We do not receive payment for our product reviews, but from time to time companies do send us their products for us to review.  We have a pool of parents in York Region with children of all ages and we give the products to parents in return for their honest review.   In many cases, we also donate many of the products to charities in York Region.
