It’s back!  Check out the Once Upon A Child in Newmarket on Saturday July 25th from 10am-6pm for their Grab Bag Event!  Put as many clearance items as possible in one bag for only $10!  It’s a great time to stock up on high quality gear, with previous experience for your babies & children!  Great idea for back to school shopping on the cheap.  You can choose all the amazing brands in the store, when we shop there we always find Gap, Old Navy, Gymborree and more for a fraction of the cost of new clothes.

We’ve had a few emails in the past few days about a local baby & kids consignment store in Newmarket closing.  The moms who dropped off their products to be sold are upset, as the store has closed with their stuff inside and no one is responding to emails and phones have been disconnected.  Here is the text of one email we received.

I took our like- brand new exersaucer to Hand Me Downs in Newmarket just over 6 weeks ago and they took it to sell. Saw an ad in the paper about 2 weeks later saying that most items were on sale for $1-$2, so I called to make sure that our exersaucer wasn’t priced at $1.  The owner told me not to worry, it was priced at $49.99.  2 weeks later - they are closed!  And where is my exersaucer!?!?  The number’s disconnected, the main franchise number as well.

This is completly unacceptable and we are going to try and help moms who have their stuff their get some answers.  If you are in the same situation please email us.

On a side note, if you are looking to sell your baby & kids products Once Upon A Child* in Newmarket, and other locations, like Richmond Hill are not consignment shops.  They pay you on the spot for what you bring into the store.  

(*Just want to point out that Once Upon A Child Newmarket & Richmond Hill are both sponsors of York Region Parent.  However, speaking as a mom I have taken my stuff their to be sold and have always been happy with the results.)
